Born and raised in Karachi, Asim Mukhtar has lived in the Middle East and the UK before making New Zealand his home in 2007. A graduate of the University of Karachi and a businessman by profession, Asim currently owns and manages the operations of a Montessori preschool in Hamilton, Waikato.

For over fifteen years, he has been actively involved in organising community events and has worked closely with local NGOs, social groups, and ethnic organisations in Hamilton. His vision is centered on empowering youth and uniting the Pakistani community in the Waikato region, while supporting their successful integration into Aotearoa society. Asim is passionate about strengthening ties between the Pakistani community and other groups, organisations, and ethnicities—fostering mutual respect and meaningful connections.

Since November 2019, Asim has led the PANZ Waikato Regional Chapter, working alongside PANZ National to serve and support the Pakistani community in the region. Under his leadership and with the support of a dedicated team, PANZ Waikato has successfully delivered a wide range of events including Pakistan Independence Day celebrations, Eid festivals, cultural showcases, and women-only gatherings—creating inclusive and vibrant spaces for the community in Hamilton.
